- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3-5 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and grated ginger, and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, hot sauce, apple cider vinegar, red pepper flakes, and water.
- Pour the hot honey glaze over the ground beef mixture in the skillet.
- Bring to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and coats the beef evenly. Stir frequently to prevent sticking.
- Divide cooked rice among bowls.
- Top with the ground beef hot honey mixture.
- Add your desired toppings, such as sesame seeds, green onions, avocado, or a fried egg.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to control the spice level. For a richer flavor, use a higher fat content ground beef. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in a skillet or microwave. A squeeze of lime juice adds brightness to the finished dish.
