Ingredients

  • 1 large loaf of French bread about 24 inches long
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

  • baking sheet
  • small bowl
  • Separate bowl
  • knife
  • cutting board
  • Oven
  • pastry brush

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the loaf of French bread lengthwise.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, olive oil, oregano, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper.
  4. Brush the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine the mozzarella, cheddar, and Parmesan cheeses.
  6. Sprinkle the cheese mixture generously over the garlic butter-covered bread.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the bread is golden brown.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
  9. Slice and serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, use a blend of mozzarella, cheddar, and Parmesan cheese. Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to your preference. Serve immediately for the best taste and texture. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator and reheated, but the bread may lose some of its crispness.
