Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons mustard
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Equipment

  • large skillet
  • Large bowl
  • 9-inch pie dish
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Oven
  • knife
  • cutting board
  • spoon or spatula

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Add chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Cook until the onion is softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the cooked ground beef mixture, cheddar cheese soup, milk, ketchup, and mustard. Stir well to combine.
  5. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and mozzarella cheese.
  6. Line a 9-inch pie dish with one of the refrigerated pie crusts.
  7. Pour the ground beef mixture into the pie crust.
  8. Top with the second pie crust. Crimp the edges to seal. Cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  10. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a crispier crust, pre-bake the bottom crust for 5-7 minutes before adding the filling. You can also experiment with different types of cheese or add toppings like pickles or bacon. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
